Moonlit Bay

For the third night in a row, I woke up at 4:00 AM hoping to find the conditions in the sky to be optimal.  Fortunately, on this night they were.  There was broken cloud cover and the moon was completely full.  I walked out onto a storm damaged dock to make my shot.  The light of the moon was so bright that I was shocked to find that the scene only required a 30 second exposure.  After playing with the position of the camera, I finally decided on the perspective I liked.  Having found the perspective I liked, I waited until the clouds opened up a circle around the moon and let the maximum amount of light shine down.  The newer dock’s straight clean lines contrast the contorted structure of the old one.  The dock I was standing on leads the eye out to sea, and the moon’s reflection fills the void between the docks.
