Katahdin Reflection

As soon as I heard about Baxter State Park, I knew it was a destination I would photograph.  When I arrived at the park, I was awed by the shear size of the untouched wilderness.  There are no paved roads in Baxter, nor is there plumbing, stores, electricity, or even garbage cans.  Mount Katahdin, the highest mountain in Maine and one end of the Appalachian Trail, is located in the park.  On my quest to photograph the great mountain, I ended up climbing halfway up it in search of a shot.  There was natural beauty everywhere I looked, but I just couldn’t compose a shot.  I hiked for a few more hours until trees came to an end and water began.  I looked back in the direction of Katahdin and took the shot.  The shore of the lake fades to colorful trees, and the reflection of the mountain is complemented by the reeds in the water.
