In the woods in Maine I really liked the vertical tree trunks of some birch and popel trees.  I wanted to take a photograph to show the beauty of the cluster of trees, but I knew it would be difficult in this situation.  I positioned my camera to show a light clearing in the background behind the tree trunks, set my camera to shoot a long exposure, then pressed the shutter and used a special technique.  The result is a photograph that resembles an impressionist painting.
