My quest to create landscape photographs took me to the northernmost region of Maine.  I was awed to be in one of the most sparsely populated areas in the entirety of New England.  I wanted to create a photograph that embodies the spirit of the region.  As I reached the crest of a large rolling hill in the thick of Maine’s potato country, I was drawn to the simplicity of the scene.  The rustic white farm house sandwiched between a potato field just days before harvest time and the warm evening sky leaped out at me.  The classic windmill idles beside the farmhouse which seems to be protected from exposure by the cluster of evergreen trees beside it.  After I snapped the shutter, there was no doubting that the shot would be called “Aroostook.”  No other scene could better capture the essence of Aroostook County, Maine from my perspective.
